Many students studying in foreign countries often forget the main and easiest ways of sustainability. This short guide will not only help you remember the sustainable ways of life but will also lower your expenses and enrich your studying abroad experience.
Sometimes the sustainability might seem like a new trend that everyone tries to follow but in reality it is a very important choice that each of us has to make for the future of our home planet. While following sustainable ways of living, we “slow” ourselves down by thinking consciously of our actions and their consequences that come after. One way to do it might be planning of meals. The weekly planning will not only save your money doing grocery shopping but it will also help to reduce the food waste problem in the world. Additionally, giving up on takeaways and rather cooking your own meals at home will guarantee less plastic in the world’s oceans and save on your personal expenses.
Another great option for sustainability living abroad is recycling. Apart from conserving the natural resources and reducing the amount of waste, this habit helps planet to recover from pollution and saves its energy. It is also super easy to do while studying abroad, especially in
Europe, where most of the countries already have firm waste recycling systems that make it so much easier for us all to use.
The last and probably most fun way of sustainability is choosing the right forms of commuting. Living and studying in a foreign city is much more interesting when walking or renting a bicycle and seeing the entire city yourself. By walking or cycling every day, you also exercise your body and save your cash that you would normally spend on the gym. Even though it is a slower option, it is definitely the most enjoyable one, so take your time and enjoy your experiences abroad in the most sustainable ways!
